A wedding is a beautiful occasion that a woman begins dreaming about when she is just a little girl. She sits and wonders what type of man she will marry, what her dress will look like, how the cake will taste, which song their first dance will be to, and a million other things. It is a huge event in her life and there are many people that help make it possible for her. At many weddings, it is becoming more and more common for a wedding speech from the bride to be given at the reception. This is a special time for the bride, the groom, their families, and all of the wedding party and guests.
Plan Ahead
If you want to deliver a speech on your wedding day, it is best if you start working on it well ahead of time. Your wedding is an incredibly busy day and you won’t have time if you put it off until right before the wedding .Sit down and make a list of everyone that you want to address in your speech. Then include a brief description of what you want to tell them. Are there any stories or memories that you want to share? Make sure that you are not leaving anyone out that would be offended. For example, if you are thanking each of the members of the wedding party, don’t accidentally leave off one!
Practice Often
Once you have narrowed down who you want to address and what you want to say to them, next put it in order of importance. Most bride’s that give a wedding speech choose to address their new husband first, and then from there move on to thank their parents, the grooms parents, their maid of honor and so on. Before the big day, make sure that you practice this speech! You will be so full of emotion and excitement on the day of your wedding that you will want to have the basic gist of your speech already memorized.
Sample Wedding Speech from the Bride
“Family and friends, thank you for being here today! I have been dreaming about this day for as long as I can remember and it was better than I could have ever possibly imagined. To my new husband, I am so happy to be your wife. I am going to spend the rest of our lives trying to serve you in love. To my parents, thank you for everything. You are both more than I could have ever hoped for and I feel like I was given the best parents in the world! To my new set of parents, I am so glad to be a part of your family!”
She could then go on and share personal stories and address other members of the wedding party.
